§ 5-5. Camping.

(a)

Camping either in a tent, camper trailer, motor home, camper vehicle or any manner whatsoever, is unlawful in the following areas of the county:

St. George Island east of Bob Sikes Channel; Dog Island, Carrabelle Beach south of U.S. 98, including all south of U.S. 98 from the west line of Section 2, Township 8 South, Range 5 West, northeasterly to State Road 376; all of Alligator Point, including Peninsular Point, Light House Point, and Ball Point, including Sections 21, 28 and 33, Township 6 South, Range 1 West, and Sections 4, 5, and 6, Township 7 South, Range 2 West, and all of Alligator Point west of the west line of said Section 6; John Gorrie Bridge Causeway, Bryant Patton Bridge Causeway, Cat Point, and Porters Bar.

Littering, dumping, or the placing of trash or waste of any kind, specifically including human waste, is unlawful and prohibited in such areas.

(b)

St. Vincents Island, Little St. George Island and St. George Island west of Bob Sikes Channel are owned by the federal and state governments, have no vehicular access by public road or ferry, and are therefore excepted and exempted from this section.

(c)

Camping in J.G. Bruce State Park on St. George Island, when and where specifically admitted by the rules adopted by the state for said park, is excepted and exempted from this section where provision is made for garbage and trash disposal, and sanitary sewage disposal facilities are available. Camping in travel trailer parks having sewage disposal facilities approved by the county sanitarian or state board of health is excepted and exempted from this section.

(d)

A violation of this section shall be punishable by imprisonment not to exceed thirty (30) days in the county jail, or by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00), nor be less than fifty dollars ($50.00).
