§ 8-21. Lease to private organization; maintenance of level of indigent care.
(a)
The board of county commissioners of Franklin County is authorized to lease the George E. Weems Memorial Hospital to a public or private organization or to a profit or nonprofit corporation on such terms and conditions as the county commission may determine to be in the best interest of the continued operation of the hospital facility for the benefit of the citizens of Franklin County.
(b)
In the event that the board of county commissioners of Franklin County enters into a lease agreement as provided in section 1, [subsection (a)], as a precondition to such lease or any related agreement, the corporation shall be required to provide at said hospital, on an annual basis, not less than the same percentage of the hospital's gross revenues attributed to charity care, indigent care, and Medicaid, previously provided by the hospital as reported to the Hospital Cost Containment Board prior to the execution of the agreement.
