§ 17-17. Presentation and notice of petition.

(a)

In order to create a service district, a petition signed by fifteen (15) percent or more of the freeholders within the proposed district, based on the most recent registration list, praying for the creation of said district, may be presented to the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County. The petition shall define the proposed boundaries of the proposed district.

(b)

The board of county commissioners, upon receipt of said petition, shall give at least thirty (30) days' notice of the filing of such petition by advertisement in a newspaper published in Franklin County at least once a week for four (4) weeks.
